Scandal, Sizzle, and Stowaways: The Rogue Not Taken by Sarah MacLean

Attention all romance rebels and scandal aficionados: if The Rogue Not Taken by Sarah MacLean isn’t on your radar yet, let me fix that. This book is an absolute riot of witty banter, irresistible chemistry, and a road trip with more detours than Sophie Talbot’s escape plan.

Buckle up, Romanceaholics. This one’s a bumpy ride you want to take.

We begin with Lady Sophie Talbot, aka the least sparkly of the Talbot sister’s society’s favorite punching bags. But when Sophie sends her trashy brother-in-law diving headfirst into a fishpond, she becomes the scandal of the season.

Public disgrace? Check. A daring escape plan? Double-check.

But here’s the kicker: her getaway involves stowing away in the wrong carriage. Guess who owns said carriage? Enter Kingscote, the Marquess of Eversley, aka “King,” a roguish rake with a reputation dirtier than a Regency ballroom after a waltz marathon.

What follows is a gloriously chaotic, slow-burn romance packed with sharp quips, stolen moments, and a carriage ride you’ll wish never ended. Sophie and King are pure dynamite. She’s fiercely independent, unapologetically herself, and utterly immune to his charm, or so she claims.

On the other hand, King is infuriating and deliciously charming, and he’s the kind of rogue you’d love to slap and kiss in equal measure.

Sarah MacLean brings her A-game here. The dialogue is crisp, the tension sizzles hotter than a summer bonfire, and the character development is perfection. Sophie’s journey from scandalized spinster to a heroine of her own story is deeply satisfying, and King’s vulnerabilities sneak up on you in the best way.

Bonus points for the lush, evocative settings and some serious will-they-won’t-they carriage shenanigans.

The Rogue Not Taken will steal your heart if you love Regency romances with scandal, sass, and sizzling slow burns.
