Confessions of a Romanceaholic: Unhinged Devotion Beats Logical Love Every Time

Let’s Be Honest, Logic Has No Place in Fictional Love

Listen. I support healthy communication in real life, therapy for all, and partners who respect boundaries. But in my romance books? Give me the possessive man who would burn cities for her.

Give me the emotionally wrecked antihero whispering “You’re mine, and I’ll never let you go,” while holding her like she’s oxygen.

I don’t want a reasonable hero. I want the one who’s deranged by love.

The kind who stares at her from across the room like he’s plotting either a wedding or a murder, possibly both.

Obsession? In This Economy? Yes, Please

Let’s stop pretending we’re reading for realism. Romance is fantasy, and unhinged devotion? That’s the black card of tropes. I want the hero who would crawl through glass to see her smile.

Who memorizes every detail. Who looks at her like the entire universe exists solely to keep her breathing.

Of course, there’s a line between sexy obsession and red flag parade. But if it’s fiction and it’s framed as love, not control.

I say let it burn, baby.

Why “Healthy” Sometimes Feels… Boring

Sure, mutual respect and shared values matter.

But let’s be real: the guy who says, “I trust you to make your own choices,” doesn’t exactly cause heart palpitations the way “I’ll kill for you,” does.

And that’s okay.

Because fictional love lets us explore intensity without consequences, and sometimes, we need to feel wanted on a soul-deep, ruin-me-forever level.

Final Confession? I’ll Take the Madness Every Time

So no, I don’t want “logical love” in my romance novels. I want chaos. I want devotion that borders on madness.

I want the kind of love that doesn’t ask questions, it just claims.

Give me the unhinged hero every time because nothing says romance like a little bit of obsession.
