Someone doesn’t like Jace and Stella dating and will go to dangerous lengths to stop it. What they don’t know, are the lengths Jace will go through to protect Stella. Not the kind that burns inside you and melts your heart into a mess of happy feelings. A real one. One that rips through wood and disintegrates brick and bone, leaving ashes and orphans in its wake.
Death would have saved me from a rocky family life. There would be no cigarette burns on the soles of my feet, no vicious words engraved in my mind, and no Kai Madison. The friend who saw past the scars and offered me pennies for my secrets. The guy who stole my heart with a single kiss in the middle of a rose garden on a snowy winter.
Nothing would have been easier to leave behind—to vanish from—but for the past four years, I’ve been isolated from the world, living in a hospital room and helping the Feds build a case against my foster-dad. Now I’m free and willing to risk my life to see him again.
There’s only one problem. I’m no longer imperfect. I have the same heart, but a different face.
From Bestselling author Sonya Jesus comes a new STANDALONE, friends to lovers college romance about a scarred girl next door and the bully who loves her. A modern retelling inspired by The Snow Queen.
The closer she gets to love, the more he unravels.
For commitment-phobe Lia, love means trusting someone enough to let them in. She’s not harboring some deep dark secret or a tortured soul; she’s simply scared to give her heart away. When Connor sparks her interest, she reluctantly gives the freshman a chance, unknowingly catalyzing a change in her love life. Suddenly, guys vie for her attention, and her heart is torn between the new, the old, and the familiar. While she’s busy with new experiences and conflicting feelings, Hawk is unraveling.
Lia doesn’t know how deep Hawk’s obsession goes. He’s always there, listening in, tracking her every move, and studying her. If not for his intervention, the guys from Lia’s past would have damaged her innocence and broken her heart. They possessed the ability to change his perfect girl into someone unrecognizable and unsuitable. In all his careful planning, Hawk’s become too comfortable and underestimates Connor’s ability to sneak his way into Lia’s heart.
Cameras and footage are no longer enough. Hawk infiltrates her inner circle and manipulates the people around her, using them to carry out his plan. The sudden onslaught of male attention slows him down, or rather, escalates his obsession into something a bit deadlier. If Lia dares to love someone other than Hawk, then he may not survive her love.
With a whodunit vibe, this pyschological thriller balances innocent, coming of age romance with the darkness of obsession.

Matt Thompson takes a phone call from Nora Horton, principal of his son’s elementary school, reporting that his son, Jeremy, is suspended for fighting. Jeremy asserts to Matt that he was protecting his friend Tim from a bully, an older and bigger kid. Upset with Nora Horton and the stupidity of zero-tolerance policies, he believes Jeremy, but feels as though his hands are tied.
He fields a second call from Horton the next day, asking him to come and meet with her after hours, and reluctantly agrees, still furious with Horton. She reports to him that she was reliably told by an array of students and at least two teachers that Jeremy was telling the truth, indeed protecting his friend Tim, who has a prosthetic leg, from being mugged by the other boy. Matt isn’t entirely mollified, but Horton sends her secretary home, then tells him she will make amends, giving her surrender.
