Apex Elite Academy Year 4 Review: Powerful Mates, Dangerous Secrets & Endless Obsession

Apex Elite Academy Year 4 Review: Powerful Mates, Dangerous Secrets & Endless Obsession

I went into this expecting a high-stakes academy finale with supernatural politics, dangerous missions, and a satisfying conclusion to the series.

What did I get?

Chaos. Obsession. Emotional overload.

This book felt like standing in the middle of a war zone while being wrapped in the safest arms imaginable.

Like being overwhelmed, claimed, protected, and adored all at once.

Let’s talk about Rune.

She was fierce, resilient, and absolutely relentless.

The kind of woman who refuses to back down when the people she loves are threatened, no matter how impossible the odds become.

She’s powerful without becoming untouchable, vulnerable without feeling weak, and determined without crossing into recklessness. Her growth across the series culminates beautifully here as she steps fully into her role as a leader, protector, and future agent of the Supernatural Council.

Watching her embrace her power while carrying the weight of responsibility made her character arc incredibly rewarding.

And the way she stepped fully into her power while fighting beside her mates and allies?

Yeah… she had me.

Now let’s talk about THEM.

Because let’s be honest… half the reason we keep turning pages in a reverse harem series is to discuss the men.

The guys went into full “touch her and die” mode. And yet they never completely overshadow Rune’s strength. They support her, trust her, and fight beside her rather than constantly trying to save her.

That’s a balance a lot of reverse harem books struggle with, and I think Lyra Winters handles it well.

What I loved about the guys in Year 4 was that by this point, they didn’t feel like a collection of love interests anymore, they felt like a true unit. Each relationship with Rune has been built over multiple books, so their devotion feels earned rather than forced.

The protective energy in this book is OFF THE CHARTS.

The best part for me was seeing how much they’ve matured. Earlier books had more uncertainty, jealousy, and figuring-things-out moments, but Year 4 feels like the payoff. The relationships are solid. The trust is there. The emotional intimacy is there.

And the devotion? Absolutely feral.

Individually? Dangerous.

Together? Unfair.

And the way they protected her, fought beside her, challenged her, and stood united when everything was falling apart???

I was DONE.

Protective, possessive, chaotic, and completely devoted.

At this point, they feel less like a romance group and more like an unstoppable force of nature.

Constant danger, political conflict, emotional pressure, and the looming threat of losing everything they’ve fought for.

The chemistry?

Not just one connection

but a web of loyalty, trust, desire, and devotion that keeps growing stronger with every challenge they face.

I also appreciated that each mate still maintains his own personality instead of blending into a single “protective alpha male” archetype. Their different strengths make the group dynamic much more interesting, especially during missions and high-stakes situations.

For me, the romance in Year 4 wasn’t about new relationship drama, it was about watching a family fight for each other. The emotional payoff comes from seeing just how far these men are willing to go for Rune and for one another.

I was too busy turning pages and emotionally attaching myself to this entire disaster family.

Watching this group face impossible odds while refusing to leave anyone behind completely wrecked me.

Why choose… when THIS is the alternative?

Apex Elite Academy: Year 4 delivers everything I wanted from a reverse harem academy finale and then somehow gives even more. Between the explosive action, supernatural politics, high-stakes missions, emotional character growth, and unwavering found-family bonds, this book felt like a nonstop adrenaline rush wrapped in pure emotional devastation.

What I loved most was that the romance never got lost beneath the chaos. Even with war brewing, enemies closing in, and the future of both humans and supernaturals hanging in the balance, the relationships remained the heart of the story. Every challenge strengthened the bond between this heroine and her mates, making every protective moment, every sacrifice, and every declaration of loyalty hit that much harder.

The academy may be coming to an end, but these characters never stop evolving. Watching them step into their power, embrace their roles, and fight for the people they love made this feel like a truly earned finale. The stakes were bigger, the emotions were deeper, and the victories felt all the more satisfying because of everything they endured to reach them.

This series has always balanced action, romance, and supernatural intrigue exceptionally well, but Year 4 takes everything to another level. It’s intense, emotional, heartwarming, and completely addictive from beginning to end.

If you love reverse harem romance with fiercely protective mates, a powerful heroine, found-family vibes, dangerous missions, supernatural drama, and relationships built on trust, loyalty, and absolute devotion, this finale deserves a spot on your TBR.

And when I turned that final page?

I was happy. I was emotional. I was proud of how far these characters had come.

But mostly?

I wasn’t ready to say goodbye.

Because some fictional families don’t just entertain you, they make themselves at home in your heart.
