Dragons, Dresses, and Dangerous Men: The Dragon Queen by Sam Hall Is the Fiery Fantasy Romance You’ve Been Craving

Listen up, Romanceaholics, because The Dragon Queen by Sam Hall just burned through my TBR pile like a dragon torching a battlefield, and I regret nothing.

This book? It’s a high-fantasy polyamorous power play packed with political intrigue, steamy royal tension, and enough drama to make even Cersei Lannister clutch her pearls.

Pippin is the reluctant queen-in-waiting, though things might calm down after the previous queen’s demise. Spoiler alert: They did not.

In fact, she’s got stolen dragon eggs, a looming war, and a prince who’s more concerned with her wardrobe than the actual kingdom. Meanwhile, her two swoon-worthy lovers, Flynn and Brom, are shoved into impossible roles and heartbreak on all sides.

But here’s what I loved:

Pippin does not sit back and wait to be saved. Oh no, she tightens that corset, stares down ancient traditions, and prepares to snatch the crown for herself. Because Nevermere isn’t just a kingdom, it’s a matriarchy built on the strength of dragon queens, and she’s about to show everyone exactly what that title means.

And while the world-building is lush and magical, make no mistake: this is a romance at its molten core. Polyamory is front and center, the longing is palpable, and the steamy scenes? You’ll need a cold drink and maybe a fan.

Sam Hall doesn’t just give us spice. She gives us connection, angst, and actual stakes.

If you’re into fantasy romance with dragons, reverse harems, powerful heroines, and men who worship the ground their queen walks on even when they’re making terrible decisions, then The Dragon Queen belongs on your shelf yesterday.

The Dragon Queen is for fans of spicy fantasy with a side of revolution. It may cause an obsession with emotionally damaged royal men.
