Confessions of a Romanceaholic: That Was a 5-Star Read… Until the Epilogue
Nothing, and I mean nothing, hurts more than getting emotionally wrecked, blissfully obsessed, and deeply feral over a book, only for the epilogue to come along and slap me across the face with a “Five years later, here’s a baby, and a mortgage” ending I did not ask for.
Don’t get me wrong, I love a good epilogue. When done right, it’s the cherry on top, the perfect little “they did get their HEA” moment. But when it’s done wrong? Oh, honey. That 5-star rating? It’s dangling by a thread.
Why are we fast-forwarding through the juicy parts I wanted to see? I’m over here DYING to watch them figure out how to live together, maybe wrestle through some spicy post-confession tension, maybe get revenge on that one villain who just vanished… and the author’s like: “Anyway, here’s a picnic with three kids and a Labrador named Toast.”
EXCUSE ME?
And don’t even get me started on the ones that skip from “I love you” to “Here’s our wedding and twins” with zero warning. No proposal? No first apartment full of chaos and steamy make-up sex? Just domestic bliss with no spice left in the jar? I love that for them, I guess, but what about me?!
So yes, I’ll happily devour every angsty chapter, every tension-filled moment, and every spicy scene, but please, for the love of all things tropey and dramatic, give me an epilogue that feels earned. Not rushed, not sanitized, and definitely not smothered in surprise toddlers.

Confessed. Obsessed. Epilogue-wary. See you in the next fantasy. Keep it hot, keep it messy, keep it Romanceaholic.
