Deal With the Devil Never Looked So Good Dormeo by Reece Barden
If you’re a sucker for broody demon boys, enchanted sleep curses, and dangerously tempting bargains, you’d better cancel your plans, babe.
Reece Barden’s Dormeo is here to put the sin in “sinfully good,” and I devoured every spicy, morally questionable bite of it.
Dormeo isn’t your childhood fairy tale, it’s Sleeping Beauty with claws, shadows, and a smoldering incubus prince who doesn’t know how to behave himself.
Hellfire and Hormones: What Dormeo Does Right
Ash, our demon daddy, is the star of this unholy show. He’s protective, sarcastic, and simmering with repressed desire. Rose, our perpetually sleepy heroine, might not be the most active participant in the story early on, but her quiet strength and mysterious allure more than make up for it.
Their chemistry is downright combustible.
What truly stands out is Barden’s flair for balancing spice with plot. So many spicy demon romances fall into the trap of “all heat, no heartbeat,” but Dormeo threads an actual story through the steam, and yes, there’s plenty of it.
Also? Consent is clearly demonic law in this one, and thank every infernal deity for that.
A Few Thorns Among the Roses
The pacing can lag a bit in the middle, especially when we’re stuck in Ash’s internal monologue of “I want her, but I shouldn’t.”
And Rose? She could use a little more agency. We love a soft girl, but we also want her to throw a fireball or two, you know?
The worldbuilding is intriguing, but could’ve been richer. I wanted more hellish politics, more courtly demon drama. More, more, more!
That Scene Though…
“There will be no going back if I don’t return you right now. I won’t be able to let you go.”
Dormeo is a darkly romantic, spicy-as-sin tale that will thrill fans of demon romance and fairy tale retellings alike. It’s not perfect, but it’s addictive, atmospheric, and seductively dangerous.
Reece Barden, you devilish genius. Don’t stop.
