Fae Drama, Star Warnings & One Very Hot Rune
Listen. When a book starts with “I just killed a king and got booted from the fae realm,” you already know it’s about to get deliciously chaotic.
And D.N. Hoxa does not disappoint. In Boundless, we’re thrown headfirst into the aftermath of a royal assassination, magical upheaval, and a love story that could crumble a kingdom.
Our girl is stuck on Earth after wrecking a throne, missing her fae soulmate Rune, and trying to adjust to the mundane horrors of… Google.
Yes, while Rune’s probably out there dueling death itself, she’s over here searching “how to get to Verenthia without dying.”
Iconic behavior, honestly.
But the plot thickens because surprise! A mystical creature with shady timing drops in like, “Hey, wanna go back?” and suddenly it’s portal-jumping time. What awaits? A dying realm, a mystery heir, and enough curses, secrets, and emotional whiplash to knock your crown off.

What Makes Boundless a Must-Read?
- A Realm You’ll Want to Burn and Save at the Same Time
Verenthia is not your average sparkly fae kingdom. It’s dangerous, beautiful, and falling apart faster than my sanity at 3AM when I’m binging a fantasy romance. The worldbuilding is Rich. The magic system is very Intricate.
The stakes are Astronomical. Every twist feels like a gut-punch wrapped in glitter.
- Rune Is the Fae Book Boyfriend of Your Dreams
Broody? Check. Powerful? Check. Willing to destroy the world for the woman he loves? Oh, baby, check.
Rune isn’t just hot, he’s the kind of soulmate who makes you believe in destiny, even when the stars are literally threatening to wipe out the entire realm.
- The Emotional Rollercoaster Is Unrelenting
You will laugh. You will cry. You will scream “KISS HIM!” into your pillow more than once.
The story is dripping with tension, from the romantic kind to the “wait, are we all about to die?” variety. Betrayals hit hard, curses are cruel, and the hope is always just out of reach.

Strengths vs. Weaknesses We’re Honest Here, Even When It Hurts
Strengths:
- Compelling, high-stakes fantasy world with excellent pacing
- Strong female lead who’s fierce, funny, and vulnerable
- Addictive romance with soulmate angst and emotional depth
- Excellent balance of action, mystery, and spicy tension
Weaknesses:
- The beginning is a touch slow post-banishment (Earth life = meh)
- Rune could’ve used a little more page time early on
But honestly? These are tiny cracks in a gem of a story.
Most Memorable Moment?
The moment our heroine realizes that saving Verenthia may mean losing Rune forever? CRUSHED. My soul? In shambles. My mascara? Gone.
But it was worth it. The sacrifice. The love. The aching question of “What’s a palace without the one person who makes it feel like home?”
I sobbed, screamed, and highlighted that entire chapter in five different colors.
Final Verdict: Bow Down, Fae Queens
Boundless is fantasy romance at its most magical and most devastating. D.N. Hoxa doesn’t just write a love story she builds an entire realm of emotional ruin and dares you to survive it.
Slow burn with sizzling tension. That’s all for now, Romanceaholics! If you’re into fae drama, impossible choices, and soul-deep romance with actual plot, Boundless is calling your name. Loudly. With glitter. And probably a curse or two.
Now go read it and thank me later.
