One of the best parts of The Present is how it mixes the classic family Christmas gathering with a rich, romantic historical flashback. Lindsey’s signature swoony heroes and headstrong heroines are in full force here, and Anastasia absolutely owns every scene she’s in.
She’s bold, clever, and refuses to play by society’s rules exactly the kind of heroine we live for.
The Malory family’s reactions to the journal and its scandalous contents are pure gold. There’s teasing, tension, and a strong dose of holiday mischief.
It feels like stepping into a Regency version of a slightly unhinged family Christmas dinner and we are so here for it.
