Apex Elite Academy Series Review: The Supernatural Academy Romance That Completely Consumed Me

I didn’t just read this series.

I lived in it.

This series felt like enrolling in the world’s deadliest supernatural academy, finding a family among chaos, falling for multiple morally complicated men, and somehow surviving long enough to graduate with your heart in pieces.

Like four books of nonstop danger, slow-burn romance, political conspiracies, found family, impossible missions, and the kind of binge-reading experience where every ending forces you to immediately open the next book.

Let’s talk about the experience:

Book 1: Welcome to Apex Elite Academy

From the very first chapter, I was completely invested. The academy itself is such a fun setting, blending classes, combat training, simulated missions, supernatural politics, and mystery into one incredibly addictive story.

Rune immediately became one of my favorite heroines.

She’s intelligent, sarcastic, capable, and refuses to let anyone underestimate her. She earns her place instead of having it handed to her, and watching her constantly prove herself even when everyone around her seems determined to challenge her made her impossible not to root for.

I also loved that despite how capable she is, she never feels invincible. She gets hurt. She struggles. She questions herself. But every single time, she gets back up.

That balance made her feel incredibly real.

The introduction to all of the different supernatural races was also done really well. Vampires, dragons, demons, basilisks, phoenixes, warlocks every character brought a completely different personality and dynamic to the story, making the romance feel layered rather than repetitive. I was hooked almost immediately.

Then the poison mystery started…

…and suddenly this wasn’t just an academy romance anymore.

Book 2: Everything Gets Bigger

Year two is where the series really found its stride for me.

Being placed into the House of Twilight completely changed the atmosphere. Instead of simply learning to become agents, Rune is now training to become a spy. Lies, manipulation, covert operations, and secrecy become part of everyday life, adding so much tension to every interaction.

The romance also develops beautifully here.

Nothing feels rushed.

The mate bonds form gradually, trust has to be earned, and every relationship grows because of everything the characters survive together rather than because the plot demands it. The slow-building mate bonds made every interaction even more satisfying.

Meanwhile, the attacks against supernaturals become impossible to ignore.

The humans aren’t just poisoning people anymore.

They’re hunting them.

The stakes increase dramatically, and you can feel the larger conflict building in the background.

Book 3: Emotional Chaos

This was where the emotional chaos truly peaked. The betrayals cut deeper, the danger became brutally real, and the human conflict reached terrifying new heights. Watching the characters pushed to their limits made this installment impossible to put down.

This was probably the book that stressed me out the most in the best possible way.

Everything becomes real.

The simulations are over.

The missions have real consequences.

The betrayals hit harder.

The danger feels constant.

Watching Rune endure captivity, experimentation, and betrayal without losing who she is was one of the strongest parts of the entire series.

She refuses to stay broken.

Even after everything she’s put through, she continues fighting not because she’s fearless, but because giving up simply isn’t an option.

That’s what makes her such an incredible heroine.

She’s an absolute badass, but her strength never feels effortless.

It’s earned.

Book 4: The Payoff

Graduation wasn’t just about becoming agents it was about surviving a war that had been brewing since the very beginning. The stakes couldn’t have been higher, and the series delivered a satisfying conclusion.

Every mystery.

Every relationship.

Every political conflict.

Every sacrifice.

Everything built toward this final installment.

The war between humans and supernaturals reaches its breaking point, and watching Rune and her mates finally step into the roles they’ve been training for since book one was incredibly satisfying.

Graduation almost feels secondary because the real challenge is surviving long enough to make it there.

The ending gave every major storyline the attention it deserved while still delivering plenty of action, emotion, and romance.

It genuinely felt like a reward for sticking with these characters for four books.

And Rune…

She completely stole this series for me.

Rune is exactly the kind of FMC I love reading about.

She’s confident without being arrogant.

She’s compassionate without being naïve.

She’s powerful without constantly needing to prove it.

She makes mistakes.

She adapts.

She learns.

She refuses to let fear dictate her choices.

Even when she’s surrounded by ancient, powerful supernaturals, she never shrinks herself to make anyone else comfortable.

She’s clever, stubborn, fiercely loyal, and willing to throw herself into danger if it means protecting the people she loves.

Watching her grow from an eager academy student into someone capable of standing against enormous political threats was one of the most satisfying character arcs in the series.

And can we talk about her family?

One of my favorite things something you honestly don’t see nearly enough was how genuinely supportive Rune’s family is.

Yes, her dads are protective.

Sometimes very protective.

But it always comes from love rather than control.

Her family believes in her, supports her decisions, and continues standing behind her throughout everything she faces.

There isn’t unnecessary family drama created just for shock value.

Instead, her family becomes another source of strength, reminding Rune she has people who will always fight for her.

That emotional foundation makes so many of the later moments hit even harder because you understand exactly what’s at stake.

And THEM…

This series doesn’t rely on just one unforgettable love interest it gives you an entire group of complex supernatural men who each bring something completely different to the story. From rivals and quiet protectors to chaos incarnate, every relationship develops naturally alongside the overarching plot.

But what got me wasn’t just the chemistry.

It was the way each relationship slowly evolved through trust, danger, loyalty, and shared survival instead of relying on instant romance. Every new layer of vulnerability felt earned.

Every love interest brings something different.

The rivalry.

The quiet protectiveness.

The chaos.

The unwavering loyalty.

None of them feel interchangeable, and I loved that each relationship develops at its own pace.

But what really stood out was how they slowly began trusting each other as much as they trusted Rune.

This isn’t just about romance.

It’s about building a team.

A family.

A unit willing to go to war for each other.

That development?

Absolutely worth the wait.

Every single book raises the stakes naturally.

It starts as academy life with competitive training and dangerous simulations before evolving into political conspiracies, espionage, kidnappings, experimentation, betrayals, and eventually an all-out war between humans and supernaturals.

Nothing feels repetitive because every year genuinely feels like another step toward something much bigger.

I became ridiculously attached to these characters.

Watching them grow together, survive impossible situations, and slowly build relationships through trust instead of instant attraction made every victory feel earned.

By the final book, they didn’t just feel like characters anymore.

They felt like people I’d spent four years alongside.

Leaving Apex Elite Academy genuinely felt like graduating alongside these characters. I wasn’t ready to say goodbye to Rune, her mates, or the incredible world Lyra Winters created.

My Obsession is Rune. Her growth. Her resilience. Her unapologetic confidence. The academy setting. The supernatural politics. The slow-burn reverse harem romance. The found family. The escalating mystery. Every piece fit together perfectly.

The Binge Factor is through the roof. This is one of those series where “I’ll read one more chapter” turns into finishing an entire book in one sitting because you need to know what happens next.
