Good morning, romance reader ♡
“She needed five minutes alone. She took three chapters.”
It always starts innocently.
You’ve been answering messages, doing responsible things, talking to people, making decisions and eventually your brain quietly announces:
I need five minutes where nobody needs anything from me.
So you disappear with your book.
Maybe into the bedroom.
Maybe the bathtub.
Maybe the car because, technically, nobody knows you’re sitting in the driveway reading.
You open to your bookmark.
One chapter.
That’s all.
Except the chapter ends with that sentence.
So obviously you need the next one.
Then somebody confesses something.
Someone makes a terrible decision.
The emotionally unavailable man begins showing signs of emotional availability.
And now leaving would simply be irresponsible.
Five minutes becomes thirty.
Thirty becomes three chapters.
And when you finally emerge, absolutely nothing on your to-do list has changed…
…but somehow you have.
A little quieter.
A little happier.
A little more capable of dealing with everybody again.
So maybe you didn’t waste those five minutes.
Maybe you just took the long version. ♡
