Rejected? Despicable? More Like Unstoppable: Despicable by Rory Miles Is the Wolf Shifter Romance You NEED

Romanceaholics, gather ’round, because I’ve just devoured a book that took my emotions, stomped on them, and then served them back to me on fire.

Rory Miles’ Despicable is a dark wolf shifter romance that flips the fated mates trope on its furry little head, and Bellatrix? She’s that girl.

Picture this: you’re 27, single, and have totally made peace with the fact that your “mate” probably doesn’t exist. You follow your parents to a new pack, already tired, already over it, and BAM.

The moment your feet touch Pack Ozark territory, fate slaps you in the face with a mate bond. Sounds dreamy, right? Wrong.

Because Bellatrix’s mate? This man takes one look at her, discovers she’s not “pure and untouched,” ew, sir, and proceeds to reject her harder than a guy ghosting after a first date. And what does our girl do? Cry? Beg? Pine?

Oh, honey Bellatrix dusts herself off, flips her hair, and says screw you and your rejection.

That’s right. “Despicable”? More like iconic.

Rory Miles gives us a heroine who’s fiery, fierce, and refuses to let one alpha male’s outdated ideals define her. And while the rejection trope usually has me screaming at the pages, Bellatrix’s journey from heartbreak to hell-yes had me fist-pumping.

Despicable isn’t just a romance, it’s a reclamation. A middle finger to the patriarchy wrapped in claws, fangs, and sizzling tension.

Oh, and let’s talk about the love interest. They are brooding, broken, and honestly? I wanted to slap them a few times lovingly, of course. Watching them realize Bellatrix isn’t some fragile flower but a wildfire they can’t control? Perfection.

The angst? Immaculate. The chemistry? Off the charts. The slow-burn redemption? DELICIOUS.

If you love rejected mate romance, strong heroines, enemies-to-lovers vibes, and a side of pack politics, Despicable will own you. It’s fierce, fun, and gloriously messy in all the best ways.

Bellatrix is a legend.
