Good morning, romance reader ♡
“He falls first. I fall harder. Everybody suffers beautifully.”
There are romance tropes I enjoy.
And then there are romance tropes that apparently have a direct line to my nervous system.
He falls first is one of them.
Because there is something delicious about watching a man realize usually well before she does that he is absolutely, spectacularly doomed.
He notices her first.
Starts remembering the little things.
Looks for her when he walks into a room.
Gets jealous and has the audacity to act confused about why.
Meanwhile, she’s carrying on with her life while this poor fictional man is quietly reorganizing his entire existence around the fact that she smiled at him once.
And we know.
Oh, we know.
We’re watching every lingering glance and unnecessary act of service thinking:
Sir.
You are in love.
Please catch up.
But then she finally sees him differently.
And suddenly she falls.
Hard.
Now everybody’s yearning, nobody’s communicating properly, and I’m sitting there at midnight whispering JUST TELL HER to a collection of printed paper.
Perfect.
No notes. ♡
Romanceaholic will suffer beautifully every single time.
Which do you love more: he falls first or she falls first?
