Good morning, romance reader ♡
“One bed. Two idiots. Absolutely no believable sleeping arrangements.”
There are moments in romance when I am willing to suspend disbelief.
Dragons? Fine.
Secret kingdoms? Absolutely.
A morally gray man somehow having perfect hair after surviving a battle? I’ll allow it.
But nothing tests my commitment to fiction quite like two grown adults walking into a hotel room and discovering…
There’s only one bed.
And suddenly these otherwise intelligent people lose all knowledge of furniture.
The chair?
Apparently decorative.
The sofa?
Doesn’t exist.
Calling the front desk?
Don’t be ridiculous. We have a trope to fulfill.
Instead, we begin negotiations.
I’ll sleep on the floor.
No, you take the bed.
We can share. Just stay on your side.
Oh, sweetheart.
There are no sides.
There is only forced proximity and destiny.
Because we already know exactly what’s coming.
Backs turned.
Three feet of carefully maintained distance.
One devastating late-night conversation in the dark.
An accidental touch.
Someone whispers something vulnerable.
And then morning arrives with approximately zero believable personal space remaining.
Did I believe for one second that these two were going to sleep peacefully on opposite sides of that mattress?
No.
Did I turn the page anyway?
With enthusiasm.
Romanceaholic does not require logistical accuracy when the romantic tension is this good. ♡
What’s your favorite completely ridiculous romance setup that you will happily believe every single time?
